Our lucky sixth formers spent an afternoon with Caroline SM of XL Recordings and GRM Daily this week. Caroline described her incredible journey from hip-hop obsessed teenager to A&R manager at the one of the world’s biggest labels. Thank you Caroline for an inspirational workshop and a lesson to us all about the hard graft required to make your way in the music industry.
“Never ever forget the people you meet on the way up, they’ll always be the people you’ll need at some point in your life. One thing I’ve learnt is that we always try to network above who we are, rather than networking alongside our peers. The relationships I made with my peers go back so many years now because I made a lot of effort to talk to people, and these people remember me as a kid.”
