Owen Hughes

Guitar | Bass | Band Sessions

After taking up the classical violin at the age of seven, with a little help from his violin teacher mum, Owen soon found music to be his focal point. He quickly found himself playing in numerous school and orchestral concerts, and after taking up the guitar at 14, became immersed in playing rock and pop music.

At the age of 18 Owen moved to London to further his musical opportunities and to study guitar at a popular music college, from which he graduated from the higher diploma course with a merit. On completing the year course, he returned to Wales to teach in numerous primary schools, privately and continue to work with local acts. Local metal band "The Hollow Earth Theory" soon recruited him to assist in guitar duties, playing numerous festivals supporting the likes of Opeth, Fightstar and Sepultura. The band also recorded with legendary metal producer Fredrick Nordstrom (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Inflames), and received positive press from UK rock publications Metal Hammer and Kerrang magazines.

With a desire to continue to study, Owen returned to London in 2009 to study for a three-year BMus degree program, but he has also found himself busy working with a hectic recording, teaching and gigging schedule alongside his study. Playing with numerous London artists sees him working actively within the industry and growing as a musician and teacher.
